Synopsis

Summer arrives on the island of Kasashima, a place slowly fading like a receding tide. Riku works at his family’s bakery, determined to keep its legacy alive for another generation. While Daichi, a fisherman’s son, sees it as inevitable that his childhood home will fade.

As the ccadas begin their summer chorus, Fiona arrives on Kasashima in search of a quiet island life. One where the old gods still sing their song among the winding Edo streets. While Eric finds the confidence to pursue his dream of writing and to tell the stories of the Seto Inland Sea.

Through shared meals, road trips, and the gentle power of storytelling, Riku, Fiona, Daichi, Eric and their close-knit group of friends - both local and foreign - find that community is the one thing that can anchor a place in time and forge a future for another generation to call home.
